What to Do if your CGPA is Lower than Expected?

The first thing applicants should know is that GPA is not the only criteria considered for admission. As such, applicants with low CGPA but good academic records are still on the safer side.

  4. Letter of recommendation
  5. Extracurricular activities
  6. A good GRE (Graduate Record Examination)

Note: If you have a low GPA, then there are some limitations to your admission and as such, make sure you do the following;

  • Avoid schools that strongly recommend/use GPA as a major determinant for admission.
  • Art courses consider applicants with a lower CGPA than Science and Engineering courses.
  • Business courses are good for applicants with low GPAs.
  • Avoid Courses that require more coursework and academic-based records rather than personal and self-skills, experiences, and expertise.

Also know that different Universities in Canada have different admission and CGPA requirements in accordance with their entry requirements and such requirements may differ slightly.

UBC? Trinity College at UofT? Trinity is more like a dorm you are assigned to… not a college that accepts students for studies.
