Where will the New Federal University of Technology located in Akwa Ibom State?
After a long deliberation, the State Government of Akwa Ibom State has finally decided to situate the Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom at Ikot Ukpoinua in Ikot Abasi, in Akwa Ibom State.
The Minister of Education in the person of Adamu Adamu has has given approval of the site after the delegation for an inspection of the proposed site at Ikot Ukpoinua.
When will the Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom start operations?
According to the federal government, the four newly approved federal universities including the Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom will start from 2022.
According to the June 21st, 2021 update, the president has also approved N4 billion for the take-off of the university from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
Meanwhile, minister of education has given assurance that everything is set for the commencement of project and he has assured that the as take-off funds to fund the work would be released in earnest.
The Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom State Admission Requirements
We strongly believe that this university will have the same admission requirements just like every other federal university in Nigeria.
As such, the Federal University of Technology in Akwa Ibom State admission requirements include:
- Original JAMB result
- JAMB score of at least 180
- Original WAEC, NECO, or GCE O’level result.
- Certificate of Local Government Area of Origin
- Recommendation/Attestation letter
- Birth certificate/age declaration
- Minimum age of 16years
Just like every other university in Nigeria, the Akwa Ibom State Federal University of Technology will follow these admission procedures:
1st step: All applicants must register and take part in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and obtain a satisfactory score.
During the JAMB registration, the student must choose the university as their first choice and the student’s subject combination must meet the school requirement.
2nd step: after the JAMB exam, the student will have to proceed to register for the Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom State Post UTME screening exercise.
In the screening exercise, the students will have to submit their O’level and JAMB results for checking.
3rd step: after the screening exercise the applicants will have to wait for about a month for the admission list to be released.
The admission list will contain the names of all the applicants that have been selected for admission and it will first be uploaded on JAMB CAPS.
JAMB CAPS is a portal where applicants across Nigerian universities can log in to check their admission status.
Candidates who see their names on the CAPS Portal will then have to accept or reject the admission by choice.
After accepting the admission, the applicant’s names will then be uploaded to the federal university of technology, Akwa Ibom admission portal.
4th step: the fourth and final step in the Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom admission procedure is the payment of acceptance fee, registration, clearance, and payment of school fee.
At this stage, the newly admitted student will be required to pay an acceptance fee of a certain amount and after the payment, proceed for full registration and clearance.
After the registration and clearance, such applicants will then become registered students and such will be given the authority to pay their school fee.
In some schools, students will be issued a registration number (Matriculation number) immediately after they pay their fees while some schools will issue them a Matric number on matriculation day.
How much is the School fee/Acceptance fee?
Currently, the approved and the acceptable Federal University of Technology, Akwa Ibom school fee or acceptance fee has not been announced or deliberated on.
Such decisions will only be made available when the university starts full academic operations and the fee will be communicated publicly.
